Sports Massage

To compliment your well-being I can treat you with sports massage therapy. Regardless of whether you exercise or play sport to keep fit, or compete from club to international level, then Sports massage may have something to offer you.

Sports massage, applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause discomfort or impede performance. I will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and by using the correct techniques, helping to maintain a much healthier physical state.

Myofascial Release for Structural Balance

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion and regain posture. It is one of the types of massage therapy that can provide you with great health benefits. MFR can be intergrated with other types of massage or can provide a complete treatment on its own.

Myofascial Release Therapy uses hands-on manipulation of the entire body to promote healing, release and pain relief. The therapy is based on the idea that poor posture, physical injury, illness and emotional stress can throw the body out of alignment and cause its intricate web of fascia to become tight and constricted.

The skillful use of the hands in Myofascial Release Therapy is said to release disruptions in this fascial network that links every organ and tissue in the body with every other part. Pressure on the bones, muscles, joints and nerves is relieved in the process, and balance is restored. The release of tension once the body has responded to the massage therapy allows more functional flexibility and mobility of the muscles, fascia and associated structures. Release may also facilitate the emergence of negative or repetitive emotional patterns, which have interfered with the healing process.

Some symptoms it may help are:
Postural problems, Chronic pain, back pain. neck pain, whiplash, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, plantar fasciitis.

Myofascial Release treatments usually take one hour and will include a physical evaluation before the treatment itself, for which the patient will be unclothed. A series of treatments may be necessary, although relief may be obtained in one session and it is generally suitable for people of all ages.

Treatment is done in my private home studio. If you are unsure of which treatment to have in the initial assessment we can discuss this after taking your medical history,it may be that you want to focus on posture more than deep tissue work, please bring with you shorts for comfort during assessment. Towels are used for modesty during treatment.
